Sankar and his younger brother Jyoti Shankar started learning violin
at the age of nine. They studied violin with Mr. Mihir Gupta and
passed licenciate of Trinitry college of
Music (London) under Mr.Sam Engineer.
They received the concept of Indian Classical music from thier father.They
have been playing in film music for about eighteen years. They played
under the conducting of great maestros
Pt. Ravi Shankar,
Ustad Bilayet Khan, Ustad Amzad Ali Khan
and world famous film director Sri
Satyajit Roy.
They
also received a good recommendation from world famous conductor
Mr. Zubin Mehta.
An
instrumental fusion released from Biswas Records in USA.They perfomed
in Banga Sanskriti Sanmelan held at Liverpool (U.K.) in the year
1998.They were invited to perform in the World Music Day (21st June.2000)
at Rabindra Sadan,Calcutta, organised by Eastern Zonal Cultural
Centre.
